Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Account info: email address, display name/handle, and password (stored by our authentication provider, never visible to us in plain text). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.
- Profile content you add: home city, board, years riding, bio, social handle, photos you upload, miles you log, trail votes, forum posts, and event submissions.
- Location: only when you tap locate or record a ride, only while you're using the app, and only after your device asks your permission. We never collect location in the background.
- Payments: founder and premium purchases are processed by Stripe on our website. We never see or store your card number. We keep a record of your membership status and order confirmation.
How we use it
To run your rider account, show your profile and content to the community as you choose, keep the trail map and leaderboards live, send account and membership emails (via SendGrid), and improve the platform. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Who processes it
Google Firebase (authentication, database, photo storage), Stripe (payments, on the web), SendGrid (email), Netlify (hosting). Each processes data only to provide their service to us.
Public by design
Rider profiles (@handle pages), trail votes, forum posts, and community content are public — that's the point of the community. Your email is never public.
Your choices
Edit or remove your profile content anytime in the app. To delete your account and associated data, email info@kioconnect.com and we'll take care of it. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails via the link in any email.
Kids
The Wheel Life isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Delete your account and data
You can request deletion of your Wheel Life account and associated data at any time.
Email info@kioconnect.com from the address on your account with the subject line "Delete my account". We will verify the request, delete your account and personal data (profile, photos, posts, ride logs) within 30 days, and confirm by email.
Some records are kept where the law requires it: payment records are retained by Stripe under their policies, and we may keep minimal transaction records for tax and accounting compliance.
Deleting your account does not remove trail map data, which is not personal to you.

Terms of Service
- Ride at your own risk. Trail info is community-sourced and changes in the real world. Difficulty ratings are opinions. Check conditions, obey posted rules and local law, wear your gear. KIO is not responsible for injuries, citations, or damage arising from rides.
- Access notices. Some areas restrict electric rideables. Where we know, we say so — but YOU are responsible for confirming access before riding.
- Your content. You own what you post; you give us a license to display it on the platform. Don't post content you don't have rights to, and keep it legal and decent. We can remove content or accounts that break these terms.
- Membership. Paid memberships are billed through Stripe on our website per the terms shown at checkout. Founder pricing is locked for the life of the continuous subscription.
- The service is provided as-is. We work hard on accuracy and uptime but guarantee neither.
